Gratitude

So, the lesson we had in Relief Society yesterday was about gratitude and having a gratitude journal, so I thought that I should begin writing the things that I’m  grateful for each day.  After all, I have so much to be thankful for, and it’s supposed to make you happier, healthier, and more optimistic when you show gratitude every single day.  I thought I’d share my first entry with all of you and encourage you to think about what you’re grateful for today.

Today I am grateful for:

1.  A handsome and loving husband who loves me for who I am, encourages me to develop and use my talents, and makes me laugh every single day.

2.  My two preemie babies.  My eyes have been opened to a new understanding of suffering, and a new understanding of love.  I feel blessed among women to have had a tiny baby who came to receive his physical body and was then blessed to escape the pains of this life and return in full glory to our Heavenly Father.  What a special girl my little Maggie is as a surviving micro preemie!  Our relationship is so sweet because of what we have been through together.

3.  My full-term baby.  She, too, is a miracle baby because of my successful pregnancy!  She is so sweet, loving, and healthy.  I couldn’t ask for anything more.

4.  Change.  I have always loved change because it gives me a greater understanding of the world around me and helps me to learn more about life and responsibility and relationships.  It’s so exciting to experience new things and to take some risks!

5.  Music.  Music has played an interesting and large role in my life up to this point.  I have many musical ambitions, but my future as a musician is so unclear.  I plan to develop some of my less-used musical abilities in hopes of discovering my true calling in music.  Also, I am learning to find joy in just listening. Music is powerful, and good music can uplift and inspire you to greater heights.

That’s it – just five a day!  What are you grateful for today?

I love the idea of gratitude journals. I have tried a few times to start one, but I’ve never kept it up. I think it’s about time to try again!!! Thanks for the sweet reminder. Can you really come up with FIVE new ones each day?! :)
